BOARDING SEQUENCE W/O
LADDER-PLATFORM
The SRA LP-1 is an optional Ladder-Platform designed to aid in boarding for those paddlers that have
poor upper body strength, are physically impaired due to injury, exhaustion or weakened by the effects of hypothermia. For those paddlers not utilizing the SRA LP-1 Ladder-Platform, the following boarding procedure is recommended below, utilizing the SRA CB-1 Counter-Balance alone. The objective of this procedure is to reduce the effort required to lift oneself up and onto the cockpit combing, utilizing a "swim up" approach to boarding, kicking one's legs parallel to the water surface to help distribute and lift the "lower" torso portion of the body out of the water. The "upper" torso portion of the body now requires less effort in pulling and lifting oneself up onto the cockpit combing using the kayaker's two arms and hands. Refer to video demo on this page.
